I dragoni svedesi - Swedish dragoons

Eccoci di nuovo dopo quasi un mese di silenzio dovuto in gran parte ai lavori della nuova sede del Miles Gloriosus che hanno impegnato moltissimo tempo. Ma ora che i lavori sono quasi finiti, riprendiamo il pennello e soprattutto la macchina fotografica, e ricominciamo da dove ci eravamo lasciati.
Come promesso, dopo aver dipinto le cavallerie svedesi della Strelets, delle quali abbiamo già parlato in un altro topic, siamo passati a quelle della Zvezda e, ragazzi, la differenza si vede, eccome.
Le pose dei cavalli e dei cavalieri e le proporzioni dei soggetti non hanno nulla a che vedere con quelle dei pezzi Strelets (a meno che non preferiate pose alquanto caricaturali): inoltre il numero di pezzi per ciascuna posa (di solito, 3 per ognuna di esse, con l'eccezione dei comandi) permette, con 2 scatole di comporre squadroni formati tutti da soldatini con la stessa posa, il che, se vi piace l'effetto, è veramente notevole.

I pezzi raffigurati vengono venditi come Dragoni svedesi ma, a parte i colori, possono essere benissimo utilizzati anche per i Russi e, credo, per moltissime cavallerie del periodo. Ovviamente possono essere utilizzati anche per le Cavallerie di linea svedesi.
Io ho fatto due diversi reggimenti di dragoni ed uno squadrone di dragoni della guardia. I guidoni sono assolutamente speculativi perchè, onestamente, non ho idea di come fossero fatti.

Here we are again, after a long silence, caused by the works we are carrying on in the new seat of Miles Gloriosus Wargame club. Now that works are almost ended, let's take again the brushes , and the camera, and let's start again from where we stopped.

As we promised, after the Swedish Drabant from Strelets, here are the Swedish Dragoons from Zvezda and, guys, what a difference!

Horses and horsemen poses and proportions are really superior (at least, if you don't like the almost grotesque poses...): the number of the poses for each subject (3, apart from commands) permits to compose a full squadron with the same poses using two boxes (if you like it, it's really a great effect).
The miniatures are sold as Swedish dragoons but you can use them for Russian units too and , I deem, for a lot of cavalry of the period. Obviously they can be used for Swedish line cavalry, too.
With two boxes I put togheter two full ranks regiments of Dragoons and a squadron of Guard Dragoons. Flags are purely speculative as, sincerely, I have no idea of their real colours.

Novità dalla Zvezda - News from Zvezda

La Zvezda ha appena annunciato l'uscita della scatola riguardante i Cosacchi Zaporozhian. Non abbiamo ancora idea di cosa contenga,ma a vedere dalla figura, sembrerebbe contenere sia figure a piedi che a cavallo. Come abbiamo già scritto su questo stesso blog a proposito dei sets della Orion, tra l'altro eccellenti, i cosacchi torneno ababstanza utili perchè combatterono nella Grande Guerra del Nord, da entrambe le parti. Non è che tatticamente abbiano un gran significato, però sono quantomeno un notevole interesse di colore sul tavolo.
Aggiornamento del 10 novembre:
Sul sito Zvezda è stato pubblicato anche il retro della scatola, in maniera tale che si possa già avere un'idea dei soggetti rappresentati. La scatola contiene 8 figure a cavallo, 15 a piedi, oltre a 3 suonatori di tamburo (un tamburo enorme) ed un carro con una spingarda ed un servente. Molto pittoresco!

Zvezda has just announced the release of this new box. We still don't know what exactly it will contain, but from the image on the box, we can suppose it will contain both foot and mounted figures. As we have yet discussed in former topics in this same blog,talking abot Orion sets, Cossack can be very useful, because they fight both for Swedish and Russian in GNW. Tactically, thay probably have not a great importance, but they are so colorful to be of a certain interst on a wargame table.

On the Zvezda site, the back image of the box has been published, to give afirst idea of the contents.
The box contains 8 mounted, 15 foot, 3 drummers (with a huge drum), and a wooden chart with a fauconet and a man firing it.

Nevertheless both Poland and Russia had been appreciated very much military efficiency of Zaporozhians and had been used them as a front line against Turkey!"

Brutte notizie dalla Strelets - Bad news from Strelets

Il sito plastic soldier review riporta che, dal catalogo delle future produzioni della Strelets sarebbero scomparse le previste scatole sulla Grande Guerra del Nord:

• Guard of Charles XII
• Army of Peter the Great

E' un peccato. Può darsi che, per quanto riguarda la terza scatola abbiamo letto la nostra recensione e ci abbiamo rinunciato! :)
